INEC Office on Fire: Just One Month to Ondo Governorship Election
Over 5000 cards has been reported burnt. The office of the Independent National Electorate Commission (INEC) Ondo State, Akure Nigeria have been reported to be gutted on fire on Thursday 10th of September, 2020 just exactly one month to the Ondo Governorship Election which is scheduled on the 10th of October, 2020.
According to the information provided on the verified Facebook account of the commission, stated that the fire broke out at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
It was gathered that inferno gutted the container housing smart card readers.
The spokesperson of the commission, Festus Okoye, who is in Ondo State, confirmed the development.
He disclosed that he is currently at the office with some other staff of the commission trying to contain the fire incident.
