Manchester United Moves up to 5th position following 3 - 1 victory over Middlesbrough

Manchester United's united seems to be in their best form after the time of Sir Alex Ferguson following their outstanding performances and their victory over Middlesbrough.

United are no longer sixth at the moment, though. Everton usurped them on Saturday but thanks to beating Middlesbrough they have usurped Arsene Wenger's agonising Arsenal and settled into fifth. It is still some way short of the pre-season expectations, however.

At least two top six sides will drop points this weekend and United finally capitalised on their rivals' shortcomings on Teesside.

Marouane Fellaini opened the scoring with a header following two other goals from Lingard and Manchester United best 3 Anthonio Valencia.

United secured all three points vs Middlesbrough. They were without a number of key players through injury or suspension, including Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, Ander Herrera and Daley Blind.

Captain Wayne Rooney was also out, while Marcos Rojo and Henrikh Mkhitaryan could only start on the bench.

So we still have two doors open to play Champions League football for next season. It was too much for us: injured players, tired players, suspended players. These guys today they were magnificent."
