The Meaning of the Word Boko Haram and its origin
'Boko Haram' comes from the Hausa word 'boko' meaning "Animist, western or otherwise non-Islamic education" and the Arabic word 'haram' figuratively meaning "sin" which translates as "Western Education is Forbidden" it also means that anything apart from Islamic Education is a sin. and the group exist mainly in the northern part of Nigeria.

Boko Haram opposes Western education, Western culture and modern science or anything that is contrary to their teaching which is their over emphasized western Culture.
They are mainly known for attacks on Christians and anything that is against their believe. Boko Haram group have caused over 20,000 deaths in Nigeria judging from 2002 till date.
